Bo-Won Keum and Mock Portfolio Review

Artist Bo-Won Keum, a RISD alumni and Portfolio Development professor at Rutgers presented the portfolio she created while studying at RISD. The Scholars were particularly interested in a project she completed while volunteering at a local prison. The project including quotes taken from letters that prisoners wrote in an effort to elevate the voices of prisoner inmates who cannot speak with the general public themselves. She expressed her support for getting more books into prisons for prisoners to read, and the restrictions that prevent it from being possible.

After Keum’s presentation, the scholars started their mock portfolio review in preparation for National Portfolio Day. Keum and Youth Advocate Kevin, set-up stations for Scholars to line up and present their work. This prepared the scholars to discuss their practice and interests prior to meeting college representatives.
