Hector Alfredo Figueroa Cardenas
Artist, Claremont International High School, Bronx, NY
Hector Alfredo Figueroa Cardenas was born and raised in Olancho, Honduras. He attended the Claremont International High School and is currently based in the Bronx where he lives with his parents and younger brother. In order to acclimate to this change in lifestyle and routine, he became more involved in the arts. One memorable moment for Hector was viewing the portrait of Barack Obama by Kehinde Wiley, which motivated him to keep drawing and learning. In addition to drawing and painting, another of his interests is photography which he really connected with after working with cameras at school and at church. One of his biggest influences within photography is Peter McKinnon who is a Canadian photographer and filmmaker and is a marker for how Hector wants to develop his own work. Moving forward, Hector wants to complete all his goals and make his parents proud of him.
