John Edwards is an emerging artist and designer. He was born and raised in Spanish Harlem to parents who immigrated from the Dominican Republic. John’s interests are in animation, especially in storyboarding and character design which has guided his love for creating not only digital art, but more traditional works like frame by frame short films on paper. With cartoons being one of his favorite forms of media, it was only natural for animation to be the next step in his career. John has freelanced and interned with various companies. One of his many clients have included the New York City Department of Education’s Office of Food and Nutrition Services. John deeply connects with the work of people like Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe and Mariel Kinuko Cartwright, the lead animator of Skullgirls and Indivisible. The clear, fluid, and visual representation of these animators’ passion and love for their craft is apparent through their masterful use of the principles of animation and intricate characters. Their work inspires John to create by a similar standard.
