The piece is about memories of my hometown. I come from a fishing village located in the southeastern part of China. In this village, most people depend on fishing for their livelihood. There are mountains and there is a river that flows in front of my house. My dad once told me that my grandfather owned a big fishing ship. I used a print-making method to illustrate the memory I had of my hometown. The circular frame represents “union”, which is a big element in Chinese culture. I incorporated embroidery to show the river because embroidery is also one of the traditional techniques widely used in Chinese art.
