To show my gratitude, the painting is dedicated to both, my grandmother and my great-grandmother, Chacha and Mama. These wonderful women raised me in DR from the age of 4 until the age of 10. The background is blue, white, and red representing the Dominican flag. I incorporated floral designs because my Mama loved flowers and the bird represents my grandma. I once asked her, “If you could be an animal, which one would you be?” And she responded “A little bird because they are free.” I decided to use wood because it is part of nature and this is the true spirit of my grandmothers.
